Recently, Wang Ying, a 2015 undergraduate and Yang Ruhan, a 2016 undergraduate in the chemical and pharmaceutical innovation class of School of light industry and chemical engineering, Guangdong University of technology, were co first authors in the international well-known Polymer Journal macrolecules (if:5.914) published the latest research results on 2-azaallyl initiated ring opening polymerization of N-sulfonyl aziridines: one pot synthesis of primary amine ended telecommunication polyazirines.

N-The living anionic ring opening polymerization of sulfonyl substituted azacyclopropanes is an important synthetic method for the synthesis of linear polyethyleneimine based polymers. However, the initiator of the polymerization is often limited to the non functionalized n-benzyl-sulfonamide, which is not conducive to the functionalization of the end of the polymer chain or the synthesis of block or complex topological polyethyleneiminesBased polymer materials. In this study, 2-azaallyl anions were used as initiators for ring opening polymerization of N-sulfonyl substituted azacyclopropanes for the first time, and polyaazacyclopropane telechelic polymers with primary amine as terminal group were synthesized by ring opening polymerization and hydrolysis of end group imines by "one pot method" (Fig. 1).The polymerization products have clear end groups, narrow dispersion (ࠨ < 1.20), and the molecular weight can be strictly controlled by the ratio of monomer to initiator.Kinetic studies revealed the first-order reaction kinetics and "living" polymerization characteristics with controllable molecular weight. The end group of the synthesized telechelic polymer has primary amine group, which can further initiate the ring opening polymerization of ε - caprolactone to prepare paz-b-pcl block polymer under the catalysis of stannous octanoate. In addition, the ω - NH end group of the telechelic polymer can also be used as the initiator group to synthesize the nuclear crosslinked multi arm star polymer by ring opening polymerization with excess bisphenol a crosslinking agent substituted by diazocyclopropane in the presence of phosphonitrile ligand t-bu-p.4

It is worth mentioning that all the experimental results of this paper were obtained independently by Wang Ying and Yang Ruhan after joining the biomimetic composite materials and catalysis team of our college in 2018, which shows the scientific literacy and experimental ability of Undergraduates in our college.Wang Ying, who will graduate in July this year, has been admitted to our biomimetic composite materials and catalysis team for further study. The biomimetic composite materials and catalysis team is a newly introduced team of our college, which was established in July 2017. There are one hundred members in the teaching group, one professor (national "outstanding youth") and ten young hundred associate professors / lecturers.

The research work has been strongly supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the "100 young people" start-up fund of Guangdong University of technology and the innovation and entrepreneurship training program for college students.
